RV Electric -Advanced
RVs are equipped with several types of electrical systems. All RVs are equipped with a 120v power connection so you can plug into the campground. They are also equipped with battery-powered lights and fans and other appliances. Some RV’s come with generators to provide 120v power also.
Rover is also uniquely equipped with all of these, PLUS. Rover also has separate battery-powered lights in all rooms, the driver cab area, in closets and stairs, and even outside if you’re using the custom-made step at the entrance. These all operate without using Rover’s 12v system or the 120v system. They operate on simple household-type AAA or AA batteries. They are all replaceable, but they are also RECHARGEABLE. If you replace them, PLEASE don’t throw away the dead ones, as they are kind of pricy! Please return the dead ones to me so I can charge them up for the next renter.
These individually battery-powered lights are great when boondocking because you don’t have to use the house battery power or even run the generator. Therefore, your house batteries will last even longer so you can boondock (dry camp) even longer. If you are unfamiliar with the terms boondocking or dry-camping, see our tutorial on these here.
This diagram gives a details view of the various systems in an RV. Currently, Rover is equipped with all you see less solar and inverter. Rover will have ALL of these sometime this fall.
To give you an overview of the different types, the video below outlines them in a travel trailer, but Rover has the same setups as most other RVs.
