Electric Cable-TV Sewer & Water Hookups

Getting Rover hooked up is easy, once you know how.

Electric Hookup:

  1. First, make sure that the MAIN breaker in the RV is OFF.  Make sure that the breakers in the supply pedestal are OFF.
  2. Plug in ONLY the power line monitor/surge protector to the pedestal. Turn on the supply pedestal breaker. Make sure the lights show a good connection. (If the lights indicate a problem DO NOT plug in the RV.  Instead, ask for a new spot with good power.
  3. IF the surge protector indicates GOOD power, plug the RV cord into the surge protector.
  4. Turn on the breaker inside the RV.
  5. Check to make sure the microwave light is on. (You now have power to all outlets and appliances)

Now let’s hook up your sewer line.

Below is a quick guide. For more detailed information click here.

  1. Put on protective gloves before handling any hoses. Route the sewer hose through the hole in the bottom of the storage compartment.  Stretch it out until it reaches the sewer inlet on the ground. If it doesn’t reach attach the other hose to it to make it twice as long. Attach the right-angle adapter to the hose and place the open end in the sewer connection.
  2. Make sure the hose is positioned so that it is at its highest point at the RV and continually slopes downward with no valleys along the way.
  3. DO NOT OPEN THE BLACK TANK VALVE.
  4. DO NOT OPEN THE GRAY TANK VALVE.
  5. Remove the gloves and throw them away.

When you see that the black tank is full, that’s when you will be emptying it as well as the gray tank. We’ll cover that as part of leaving the campground.

Cable TV:

If you have the cable (part of the technology package) for the cable TV, and the park offers it, connect the cable to the pedestal and then connect it to Rover inside the electrical compartment on the wall.

Water:

  1. Make sure that all faucets are turned off inside Rover.
  2. At the campsite pedestal, turn on the water valve for about 10 seconds to rinse out any insects or debris.
  3. Connect the blue water filter to the hose bib and be mindful of the arrows indicating the flow direction.
  4. Connect the white hose to the other end of the filter.
  5. Connect the other end of the white hose to Rover at the City Water connector. There may be a “quick-connect” unit that you can use to make hooking and unhooking the water even easier.
  6. Turn on the water valve at the pedestal and check for leaks; tighten any connections as needed.
  7. Inside Rover, turn on the hot water faucet at the kitchen sink, ever so slightly, to allow the air in the lines to escape. Do the same for the cold water.  Do this with the bath sink and shower controls too.
  8. Now you can turn on the hot water heater if you need hot water in the next hour or so.  Remember the Hot Water Heater uses propane unless you change it over to use electricity.

Time to put out the slides and enjoy your stay! (Remember the slides will not operate if the vehicle engine is running)
