Uncharted Add-Ons
Some of our add-ons are not listed on the chart of add-ons because they don’t actually have tangible items that can be checked off when delivered or returned. These add-ons are what I’m calling Uncharted Add-ons.
The add-ons on this page may be available for you to take advantage of based on their availability and the rental company with whom you are renting. Some companies do not allow towing; some do. Some companies do not allow these types of add-ons; some do. Part of the criteria for being able to take advantage of these add-ons is the rental company you choose. Please don’t ask me to choose the rental company for you. You have to decide which is the best fit for your needs, your trip, and your budget.
Towing:
Without this package or if, for example, you are using GoodSam (RvRentals.com), you are not allowed to tow anything according to THEIR policies. Therefore, the tow hitch will be locked and unavailable to you for your trip if you are using a company that does not allow towing. If you need to two a vehicle or trailer, yo must use someone other then GoodSam Rentals.
However, if you are using a rental company that allows towing, you may choose to tow with our towing package. This is a per-day, pre-paid package and you can tow up to 7500 pounds with Rover. In addition, you must supply a brake controller of some type for your trailer or tow vehicle. You cannot rely on Rover’s braking system to handle both Rover and a tow vehicle. We will be requiring proof by way of “show-n-tell” for your braking system.
Be aware that when you tow, the insurance that is provided by the rental company will NOT cover your tow vehicle or any damage that occurs by or because of your tow vehicle. So be extra careful if you decide to tow.
Tolls Paid in Advance:
Next, we now had Tolls Paid in Advance as an option for some. If certain criteria are met, there are two types of Tolls Paid in Advance packages. One allows you to choose from 1 to 10, $10 for each pre-paid amount (max $100 Total). The other is a flat $100 pre-paid amount. This depends on the rental company you are using. The way the prepaid amounts work is that when we receive a toll-by-plate notification from a state that placed a toll on your travel, we deduct the exact amount that the agency charged us for that toll from your pre-paid balance. After three months from your trip’s final day, we refund any remaining balance of your pre-paid amounts. Any amounts need to pay tolls in excess of your prepaid tolls amount will be charged to you plus a service fee for each toll charge.
If you do not choose a pre-paid tolls option, any amounts needed to pay tolls will be charged to you plus a service fee for each toll charge.
If you are renting through most agencies, all $ transactions must go through their system.
